The lodge

Wide open space and some of the best game viewing in Africa

MalaMala is one of the largest private reserves in the Greater Kruger, sharing a long, unfenced border with the national park and holding more than 20 kilometres of the Sand River. With so much space and so few vehicles, sightings are unhurried and remarkably close.

There are three camps. MalaMala Camp is the classic choice, with suites and a pool above the river. Sable Camp is smaller and more private, and Rattray's is an elegant, adults-orientated lodge with private plunge pools.

The guiding is famously strong, and the reserve is known for leopard, lion, elephant and big herds of buffalo crossing the river.

Best forSerious wildlife lovers, photographers and families at MalaMala Camp.
