Enquire about Waterhole Facing SuitesArathusa sits on the edge of a large waterhole in the northern Sabi Sand, a short drive from the Gowrie Gate. The lodge was built to face the water, so the deck, the pool and most of the suites look straight onto it, and there is rarely a quiet hour: elephants come down to drink and bathe, buffalo and antelope follow, and lions are regular visitors.
Twelve suites are split between two styles. Eight Waterhole Facing suites open onto the water itself, while four Bush Facing suites sit further from the main lodge with their own plunge pools for more privacy. Freshly updated interiors pair warm wood and earthy colours with large windows and outdoor showers.
Days follow the classic safari rhythm of morning and afternoon game drives with a ranger and tracker, with a bush walk on offer, and evenings around the boma or on the deck as the waterhole comes alive. It is relaxed, friendly and one of the best-value ways to experience the Sabi Sand's game viewing.
Best forCouples and friends who want excellent game viewing at a sensible price, and anyone who loves watching a waterhole from the lodge.
