The destination

The smoke that thunders

Victoria Falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya, is one of the great natural wonders of the world: the Zambezi River falling in a curtain more than a kilometre and a half wide into a narrow gorge, sending spray high into the sky.

Two or three nights is ideal for a guided tour of the Falls, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, a helicopter flight and, for the adventurous, white-water rafting. It combines easily with Chobe, Hwange and the Okavango Delta.
