Elephant Plains is a relaxed, family-run lodge in the northern Sabi Sand, and it is one of the best-value ways to experience the reserve's game viewing. The welcome is warm and unpretentious, the food is generous, and the rangers are known for finding leopard.
There are three styles of room, from classic thatched rondavels to spacious luxury suites with decks over the bush, and a secluded honeymoon suite with its own pool. Evenings are spent in the boma or the dining room, often followed by stargazing.
Mornings and afternoons are for game drives through open plains and along the seasonal riverbeds, with bush walks on offer for those who want to learn the smaller details of the bush on foot.
